Our house is often like a felt-pen graveyard (in spite of persistant nagging)!
If you too are the owner of many a dried-up, squished-nib pen then worry not, simply chuck them in a pot of water overnight and make some really lovely liquid inks. (Use about 50ml of water for every felt pen).
I’m still trying to figure out what to make with all the plastic cases…ideas on a postcard please!
BTW….I’ve seen this idea before of the web, but can’t find the original source. If you know then please leave a comment and I’ll add it to the bottom of this post.

That’s exactly what I wanted to do in order to get some colored water to dye the modeling dough. But, weirdly enough (and thank God for that, though, because I have white walls) I don’t have any felt pens in the house.
You can thread the plastic cases and make a summer curtain.
Wonderful. Love how deep that colour is but so clear, not chalky like some paints.
…I forgot to mention that this works even better if you take the inserts out of the plastic tube 🙂

With the empty cases, you could let the kids string them to make necklaces
i like this idea for liquid watercolors. You can also pull out the middle of them and put the tip and the middle in a bottle of white glue and make colored glue!
I’ve put the inserts in glue before to color it as well. 🙂

Great idea! I’ve found that the empty tubes make marvelous jump rope beads!
After some months I’ve come back to try the felt pen inks. And I thougth this idea for the empty tubes could also be fun. Hope so.

I don’t have an idea for the long cases but I save our lids to add to our play dough tools. We have loads now and they get used as spikes, arms, legs etc. I made inks in the summer which we froze and mixed in bowls (whilst painting with them too). The colours are lovely and intense and my children had brightly coloured fingers at the end of it!
