pacman ghost // popup cards

I‘ve had quite a few requests for pacman popup cards over the last few years. I finally got around to making them. Sorry for the long wait!

I’ve made templates for Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde below (and also two templates for the vulnerable ghosts). You can even make some pac-dot confetti with a hole-punch and some yellow paper!

TOP TIPS
– – – – – – – – – – – –
+ Use good quality paper or card for the insert. I would say no heavier than 160gsm for best results.
+ For best success make sure you have a sharp blade in your craft knife
+ Use the point of a needle (and a ruler) to score. That way you get really crisp folds.
+ Take your time and cut/score as precisely as you can.
+ Do make a test card because the second attempt is always better (there are two inserts on the pdf ^_^)
+ Precision and patience is definitely the key to succeeding with these popup cards.

YOU WILL NEED:

+ Printable files (all files are at the bottom of the post)
+ A craft knife
+ Paper
+ Ruler
+ Needle/compass point (for scoring)
+ Double sided tape
+ Cutting mat (preferable)

HOW TO
– – – – – – – – – –

1. Download the popup insert template of your chosen ghost and print out. Trim around the edge of the template using some scissors. Then using a craft knife make all the vertical and horizontal cuts (refer to scoring/cutting diagram below). Finally, score along the horizontal lines (refer to scoring/cutting diagram below).

2. Fold along the center of the card (and at the bottom of the ghost).

3. Now you need to manipulate the card so that the rest of the design pops out. (This is the trickiest step). To do this hold the card, by the side of the ghost, with your left finger and thumb. Then hold the centre of the ghost with your right thumb and finger. Gently pull the ghost up.

4 & 5. You should now be able to fold your car fully in half and the design should lie flat in the middle!

6. Make your outer card and tape your popup insert inside. I would recommend using some double sided tape on the top half of the card only. Finally make your envelope using the template provided.
