+ Some cube shaped wooden beads
+ Sandpaper (fine and medium grade)
+ Acrylic paint
+ Paintbrush
+ Cord

HOW TO
– – – – – – –

1. Take your bead. Using a pencil mark the mid-way point on 3 adjoining edges. Join each of the points with a straight line as shown. I also drew a second triangle on the opposite corner of the bead.
2. Sand both corners down. I used a dremel drill but medium grade sandpaper will do the job just as well.
3. Sand all the faces with a fine grade sandpaper.
4. Paint both triangular faces in a pretty colour.
5. String onto some cord.

Quick craft // Bug necklaces

My boys love wearing necklaces and bracelets so we’ve been making some. I think I like the plastic-bug look!

Bug necklaces

I didn’t do a full how-to for this – it’s pretty straight forward. We used superglue to attach a single hama bead to the back of the bug. Then we threaded some cord through…easy. If you dont have superglue to hand then you can always just bind your bug in embroidery thread…then attach the cord.

Please remember: These are suitable for over 3’s only….and do go steady with the super-glue!

{macramé: half knot spiral} washer & wingnut bracelet

Hello there! I finally got around to posting after a hectic few weeks. I’ve been working on a big project which is all done and dusted now so I will be making more frequent updates between now and Christmas…phew! I sincerely wish there were more hours in the day!

I’m hoping to post another Halloween craft in the next day or so. Between now and then here is another macramé bracelet.

macramé: half knot spiral

It’s comprised of a’half knot spiral’ (and is even easier than the square knot bracelet I showed you previously).

A few people left comments about the last bracelet saying it looked like it may take too long to make. Rest assured, once you have sussed the knots, you can knock one up in ten minutes! (They are much quicker to make than friendship bracelets). If you don’t like the nuts/washers/wingnuts then just use beads instead. (Speaking of beads…I have a great giveaway coming up later on in the week so stay tuned).

By the way thanks to all you lovely people who ‘liked’ my facebook page. You made me feel very welcome! I’ll be posting all my favorite crafts from around the web there so check it out.

Full tutorial after the jump!
