Fonts three!
Hello! I seem to get a fair bit of email asking about the fonts I use on the site so thought It would be cool to introduce a few of them. I have a heap of really excellent fonts (all free!) so if you wanna see more then leave a comment and maybe it can be a regular kind of thing – well as regular as things get round here!
The three fonts featured are all free and I’m a little in love with each of them. From the top; Sniglet by Haley Fiege, Vanilla by Cutie Explosion and Blackout by Tyler Finck.

Pretty neat eh! Happy downloading.
{sponsor} smallable
Hello folks. I just wanted to introduce you to my very first sponsor, Smallable.
Deciding whether to remain an ad-free blog has been quite a tough decision to make (as I’m sure fellow bloggers would agree).
I hope that by accepting sponsors I’ll be able to cover my material costs and pay for web hosting so I do hope you understand!
It would be really interesting to hear from other bloggers about how they made the decision to move from being ‘ad-free’ to ‘sponsored’.
Anyway do check out Smallable…they do have a seriously cool selection of products and a great blog so I’m chuffed to bits to be associated with them!
Pencil crayon jewelry for designmom
Gabrielle from designmom.com asked me to come up with a ‘back-to-school’ themed project for her readers to try. I never did put together a full tutorial for the crayon necklace I made a few months ago so it gave me the perfect excuse.

Anyway I’ve had a heap of fun making these – one of my favorite projects so far (I think!). You can see the necklace, bracelet and brooch pictured. See below for a full tutorial or pop over to designmom.com.

Gabrielle has just launched a Work Life Balance Project on her blog and I thought it made a really good read. It’s a subject close to my heart because I feel like I spend most of my days spinning plates!

Speaking of going back to school my eldest son starts school on the 5th September. I’m so chuffed for him…because he really wants to go and seems so ready for it. On the other hand I’m pretty gutted. I’m going to miss hanging out with him! My youngest son goes in for a tonsillectomy on the same day! Emotion fuelled indeed! (Any advice on how to ‘hold-it-together’ would be most appreciated!).
By the way if you’re digging the whole pencil crayon thing then check out these wonderful sculptures by Jennifer Maestre and this wonderful jewelry by Maria Cristina Bellucci.
Tea-light luminaries
Hooray!! I finally managed to get a post up!! It’s been such a busy few weeks with one thing or another so sorry about the downtime!
Last week I dragged my husband round IKEA. He absolutely hates it there…for him it’s like pulling teeth. My boys also seem to mutate the moment we walk through the door and seem to think it’s OK to climb up everything they clap eyes on (and I spend most of the time nagging them and moaning at my hubby for being so grumpy)….you know the story! Anyway, somewhere among the chaos I forgot to get some tealight holders, which I’ve been meaning to get for ages…as we have a thousand tealights and nothing to put them in.
So, I made some.

They are really simple and consist of cut-paper stuck to a baby food jar with a bit of tape. Easy! I also think you could scale them up and make a lampshade…another project for another day maybe.

Click on the link below for a how-to. I’ve also included some printable templates if you fancy making some.
Finally, sorry if I’ve not replied to emails or responded to comments much over the last few weeks…do feel free to email me and tell me off. I will try to do better from here on in…!!

CDEFGABC
I just had to post this video up by Dutch artists Lernert & Sander…it’s really wonderful! (via orientaltiger.tumblr.com)
Do check out the rest of the video’s on their website…it’s all good stuff! The melting chocolate bunny appealed to my sense of humour!
Inspired by this we have been experimenting with muscial bottles. We have also been having a good old bash on the saucepan drums! (Sorry no pictures).
Have a happy weekend!
Felt pen inks
Our house is often like a felt-pen graveyard (in spite of persistant nagging)!

If you too are the owner of many a dried-up, squished-nib pen then worry not, simply chuck them in a pot of water overnight and make some really lovely liquid inks. (Use about 50ml of water for every felt pen).

I’m still trying to figure out what to make with all the plastic cases…ideas on a postcard please!

BTW….I’ve seen this idea before of the web, but can’t find the original source. If you know then please leave a comment and I’ll add it to the bottom of this post.
This idea origionally came from an article at childcentralstation – go check it out!
By the way I’m still addicted to pinterest. It’s just such a useful way of keeping track of visual material. Why not sign up…it’s free! You can check out my boards here and read my pinterview here!
Sorry things are still a bit quiet around here…another month and I will be posting more regularly again.
